What is Pilonidal sinus ?

Pilonidal means a tuft of hair and Pilonidal sinus is a infected cyst filled with pus and hair at the bottom of the coccyx box or at the hairline between the buttock region. Occurs most likely in males than females.

Causes for Pilonidal sinus ?

The exact cause is still unknown. It is believed that it’s caused during prolonged sitting, traction with clothes, in hairy people and could be hereditary.

Symptoms of Pilonidal sinus

* swelling along with severe pain and redness

* Pus drainage, sometimes along with blood

* Tenderness

* Fever

* Recurring often if not treated
